DESIGN #1

BASIC POSTER

This poster is very primitive and follows the guidelines for a basic, but clear layout focusing on the main image and title. On one hand I like this design as its basic, to the point and would definitely draw the attention of people due to the bold, central title, however, it isn't that origional and in comparison to existing posters, I think I need to create something more striking.

DESIGN #2

BAUHAUS INSPIRATIONS

Bauhaus is an amazing graphic designer and definitely was the inspiration behind this design. To create this, I followed a minimalist approach using shapes which can actually suggest things other than what they are at face value.

In visual art, shape can be defined as simple or compelx, geometic or natural and abstract.

MORE THAN JUST A SHAPE...

From the previous posters and so many other posters in the world, squares and rectangles are common objects. In everyday life, from architecture to how things are even written which are composed of sqaures, they suggest comfort and safety, stablilty and truth. Overall, squares are considered to be an honest shape.

On the other hand, triganlges suggest action and movement due to their corners pointing in a directions- mostly equilateral triangles similar to that in my design. They can suggest growth which is what I want to convey about Hidden Assemble. This design is one I will definitely consider.

DESIGN #3

PATTERNS

To combine both a fun, yet simple photo I thought using a patterned background (which adds colour to attract attention) however, a white rectangle on the top layer (to suggest stability). Through this I can still add a large, bold heading and DJ information without cluttering the page.

DESIGN #4

MORE SHAPE EXPERIMENTATION

From my shape research I discovered that circles are useful for focusing attention due to the closure of the shape and as they are less common in contrast to rectangles. However, I also read up that you can combine shapes to create something more visually intersting. In this case, I want to combine both simple, geometric and abstract shapes. Where the circle grabs attention, the use of a rectangle shaped image also suggests an honest event.

Although this design may seem quite busy, I thought I would use a block colour in the background which can fade into the image to be used at the top.

DESIGN #5

FOCUSING ON TEXT

In my previous designs I stuck to the same principal that was to space the DJ names on different lines. However, in this design I thought it would be different to keep the names on one line, just spacing them out to ensure clarity from a distance. The only problem with this is that a smaller font could be difficult to read but I like the way it looks. The shape was just put there to attract attention, it doesn't really have any meaning.

DESIGN #6

SIMPLICITY IS KEY

This design focuses on the logo of the brand, the 'H' and 'A' overlapping. I thought that layering this over a block black background and a white font would be simple yet striking. Nethertheless, this could look quite boring so it's something I may experiemnt with.

DESIGN #7

COMBINING RASTER AND VECTORS

This design is quite random and I haven't finialised the placement of text. Furthermore I liked the idea of using some sort of a pattern and filling it in a portrait which is inspired by another artist I love **** anita
